Blossoms, Bloopers, and Miscellaneous Things
Funny Story: The other day I had to use the restroom. I hurried in during the break and did my "duty". As I was walking from the stall to the sink to wash my hands, I thought I saw someone standing at the door of one of the stalls. I thought it was strange and just kept my eyes focused straight ahead. But when I got to the sink, I looked in the mirror and could see their was a man using the squatty potty. Thinking I had gone into the wrong restroom, I hurried out. I looked at the door of the other restroom and saw very clearly marked "WOMEN". Oh, my goodness. How could I have made that mistake. I went to class and finished my lesson. The next day, I went back to the restroom and noticed, BOTH DOORS were marked "WOMEN". I had not made a mistake after all. I guess whoever was using the bathroom really needed to go and didn't want to look for the men's. Kim told me later that he has looked on that same floor and there is NO MEN's restroom on the 4th floor. VERY STRANGE in deed. I'm just glad that I didn't use the men's restroom by mistake. HAHA!
I few days later I used the restroom in a different building on campus. I was SHOCKED to see a toilet paper dispenser. You never see toilet paper in a public restroom unless it's a really nice and fancy restroom. This sign was hanging beside it. I'm not sure what the sign says but I'm guessing something about using the TP sparingly. I don't really know. I need to ask one of my students.
I don't think these children had ever seen caucasians before. At first they just stared. Then they got brave and walked up to us and said hello. We stopped and TRIED to talk to them but they knew and understood very little English. Then we went on our way and they followed us all over and giggled and laughed the whole time. They were super cute.
March is a great time of year in Xi'an. Everything is coming to life. The trees are blooming all over the city. And the days are warming up! It's been beautiful.
Went to the park to see the blossoms and saw this instead. 😂. This is not an unfamiliar scene. Children a year in age and older until they are potty trained will have open crotch pants and NO diaper or underwear underneath. 😳 🤷🏼♀️. I hear it is for ease in potty training. I FEAR it just means be prepared to get peed on.
These guys were taking turns with the sledge hammer--trying to take down this wall. That's one way to do it.
We went out walking around the Big Goose Pagoda just as the sun was going down. It was such a beautiful night!
I didn't take these pictures. Another lady in our branch did. But it made me laugh so I had to include them. Fresh Goat Milk Anyone? I don't know if this video will work but I hope so.
I've never seen this before. Apparently you buy a box inside for a surprise gift. HAHA! I was tempted to buy something just to see what it would be but I honestly couldn't figure out how to do it. Imagine that!
