Shanghai

After Harbin, we flew to Shanghai.  We spent about 4 days there which included a 2 day trip to Shanghai Disney.  I was surprised at how much trash was left lying around on the sidewalks and the streets of Shanghai.  That's not something we see a lot of in Xi'an.  There are people sweeping the streets and walks all the time, from early morning through out the day until dark.  BUT... The city lights of Shanghai were beautiful as well as the buildings.  We loved the YuYuan Gardens and found some fun shopping in that same area.  Here are some pictures of Shanghai....Disney will come later.

Looking across the river to the business district.  This is the Pearl Tower.
We took a ferry across the river.  This is looking back on The Bund.
There were several brides taking bridal pictures along the river.  Red is the traditional color of wedding dresses in China.
 YuYuan Gardens

Shopping area.
 Dinner with other English Teachers.

Shanghai Tower-the 2nd tallest building in the world.  We went to the top-122 floors.  Awesome.

Looking down from the top of the Shanghai Tower.
Looking back down at the Bund.

Bottle Opener Building.  The lights twinkle and it's so pretty.

Found a Dairy Queen!
OK.....time for Disney.  We spent 2 days there and stayed at the Toy Story Hotel.  Both days were rainy which had it's advantages...the crowds did not exist so we were able to ride whatever we wanted as many times as we wanted.  Pirates of the Caribbean was the best ride.  It's completely different then California's ride...except for the fact that it's Pirates. It follows more of the movies and has some great special effects.  We got to ride the new TRON ride which was lots of fun.  Kim gets a little motion sick on those kind of rides so we only did it once.  He didn't want to press his luck on being able to ride without any motion sickness--which he was able to do the one time we rode it. There are three shows, a Jack Sparrow show, Tarzan and Sing Along with Frozen.  They were all 3 exceptional.  There aren't a lot of rides since the park is only 1 1/2 years old.  There is lots of space available for growth.  Need we say, we love love loved it!!  Here are some pictures.

Disney Town--still decorated for Christmas.
 The BIGGEST PRETTIEST Disney Castle.
Had lunch in the restaurant by the Pirates ride.  This pirate came and tied a kerchief around Kim's arm.
This is a ropes course.  We didn't go because it was just too wet.  😢
Also too cold and wet to ride the Wild Rapid Ride...whatever it's called.

 Pirate Ship
Awesome Amazing Light Show and Fireworks

Frozen Sing-Along which no one sang along to.  I'm not sure they really know this movie.  We would have sung along but it was all in Chinese.
Alice in Wonderland Maze--it was pretty fun.
 Mad Hatter
Day 2
Main Street was pretty small but still very well done.

When it rains the people stay away!

We have so many pictures--this is just a peak of our fun.  Maybe I'll do some more another time.  But when all is said and done....Shanghai Disney did not disappoint.
